SCITECH has released the ReporteR portable Raman spectrometer, which it claims is the world’s smallest hazardous and illicit materials detection system.
The ReporteR portable Raman spectrometer detects drugs, explosive, plastics and industrial chemicals quickly through their unique spectroscopic signatures.
According to Scitech, the ReporteR portable Raman spectrometer can be used for presumptive testing of illegal narcotics, chemical testing on the factory floor and for testing of explosives and plastics. Its test method is non-destructive.
Scitech claims the ReporteR portable Raman spectrometer will help in speeding up tests of suspicious substances, which usually take up to several weeks. The spectrometer weighs less than 311g, and can identify unknown substances in 10 seconds.
The ReporteR portable Raman spectrometer carries out real-time identification of an unknown substance by comparing its unique molecular fingerprint to reference materials stored in a spectral library. Results are displayed on a LED display. The spectrometer can be upgraded with new material library entries and software.
The ReporteR portable Raman spectrometer includes, liquid and solid sampling accessories, 250 vials, power supplies, back-up battery power, USB cables, carry case, user interface software and library software manuals.
