PHANTOMEYE has launched a more powerful version of its MySpot personal tracking and duress system with GSM triangulation and 24-hour automatic emergency calling.
MySpot takes the form of a software application for smartphones featuring GPS satellite tracking. The new version includes GSM triangulation provided by network carriers. According to PhantomEye, this is first location based service (LBS) in Australia to combine both technologies for more accurate tracking.
The MySpot SOS software application is suited for businesses which employ lone workers who need to frequently travel away from the office. It provides a panic button which can be activated in situations of duress.
Users of the MySpot SOS application can choose what information to send out, as well as set single click configurations to send out pre-composed SOS messages. Notification of other parties can be done via email, SMS, IM, twitter and automated voice calls.
According to PhantomEye, businesses will be able to keep track of workers in the field, and provide a higher duty of care to lone workers whose work might take them into potentially dangerous situations at all hours of the day or night.
MySpot can conceivably find applications for truck drivers, remote maintenance workers and technicians, and electricians and plumbers.
