NHP ELECTRICAL Engineering has partnered with Schmersal to release a safety interlock for securing machine guards.
The MZM 100 has a non-mechanical operating principle, and no actuator key. It uses an electromagnet to lock the guard.
The switch can also detect and monitor the actuator plate through an integrated non-contact sensor utilising Schmersal’s pulse-echo technology.
According to the manufacturer, this combination of the two technologies means the switch is not subject to mechanical wear because there are no moving parts. The non-contact sensor means larger door misalignments are tolerated, while the pulse echo technology allows a single safety controller to monitor multiple units.
The MZM 100 also has an IP 67 protection class rating, making it suitable for the food-processing industry or wherever high hygienic standards need to be maintained.
