WorkSafe issues alert for loading and unloading EWPs

comments

WORKSAFE has issued an alert to inform people of the risk of injury when loading and unloading elevated work platforms (EWPs) onto and off tilt tray trucks.

According to WorkSafe, workers loading and unloading EWPs should do so according to the EWP manufacturer’s instructions.

WorkSafe says people should ensure the truck is suitable to transport the EWP in the travel position and the trailer should be long enough for the boom and basket.

The organisation says EWP operators must be provided with operating instructions and trained adequately.

WorkSafe claims a qualified person should carry out annual inspections of all critical components. A record of inspections should be kept to provide a history of the plant.
