What will change? Safe Work Australia to present national OHS Act seminar at show

VISITORS to The Safety Show Sydney will hear about how safety in NSW will change when the state’s OHS law follows the new national Model Act.

The Safety Show Sydney is being held from 27 to 29 October 2009 at the Sydney Showground.

It will be host to seminars on the changes to safety laws, said to be the biggest in decades. There will also be practical safety workshops and exhibitors will provide information on a wide range of safety products and services.

The proposed new laws will affect union powers, the personal liability of company officers and the onus of proof when safety breaches are judged in court.

Safe Work Australia, the umbrella body responsible for developing the national model OHS legislation, will present a seminar on 28 October 2009 at The Safety Show outlining the impact of the changes.

Exhibitors include WorkCover NSW, Blackwoods, Elliott Australia, Ingal EPS, Ingal Civil Products, NTP Forklifts, Spill Station Australia and Webforge.

According to organisers, they are expecting a large turnout for the event, as the new laws make it imperative to keep informed.

WorkCover NSW, will keep visitors abreast of three key areas with free daily seminars: Workers Compensation - What you need to know, Manual Handling and Smart Move Tool Kit, and Preventing and Dealing with Workplace Bullying.
