WA Safety Show sees success

ORGANISERS of the WA Safety Show say it was a success, with just a little under 4000 visits to the inaugural event in August.

3997 visits were recorded over the three days in Perth.  Australian Exhibitions and Conferences claim this was impressive because WA is a very large state with a lot of remote workplaces, and fewer employers.

The attendance figures were matched to the first Queensland Safety Show in 2006, and organisers are anticipating 5000 visits to the next WA Safety Show, which will be held in 2010.

The mining, building and construction, and manufacturing sectors dominated the visitor list. Visitors emphasised the need for a dedicated safety event like the show, hoping by keeping up with the latest, they can avoid safety failures. They were also impressed with the diversity of products available.

Over 150 exhibitors, including BOC, Elliott Australia, JLG Industries, Steel Blue and Toyota Materials Handling, showcased lifesaving solutions from asbestos removal and automation safety through to tracking devices for trapped workers and waste management.

The next Safety Show, for Sydney, will run from 28 to 30 October 2008 at the Sydney Showground.
