Transport safety expert awarded medal by Engineers Australia

SAFETY expert Emeritus Professor Rod Troutbeck was awarded the Engineers Australia NCTR Transport Medal for his role in enhancing the safety of the transport industry.

Professor Troutbeck was principal research scientist at the Australian Road Research Board. 

In his 15-year tenure, Professor Troutbeck established the effectiveness of safety barriers, the effect of longer vehicles in the traffic stream on drivers’ overtaking behaviour, the performance of roundabouts and innovative video data collection techniques.

Professor Troutbeck is an Engineers Australia fellow, and has been the Transport Panel chair for a number of years.

As the recipient for the National Committee for Transport's Transport Medal, Professor Troutbeck will give a series of presentations around Australia as an eminent speaker.
