SafeWork SA launches safety video competition for secondary students

SAFEWORK SA says it is helping increase safety awareness among young workers and students by holding a video competition for secondary school students.

SafeWork SA is asking contestants to produce a one-minute video clip about workplace harm and its impact on young workers, their families and workmates.

According to SafeWork SA, young people are at greater risk of being injured at work because of a relative lack of experience in the work environment.

This competition is in addition to SafeWork SA’s purpose-built website, Youth@Work. The winning videos will be showcased on the Youth@Work website and the Passport to Safety site.

Passport to Safety specifically educates and tests Year 10 students on their minimum rights and obligations in workplace safety as they begin either work experience or part time work.

Entries close at 5 pm on Friday 25 September 2009, with the winning clips to be announced during Safe Work Month in October 2009.
