Safety SA Union threatens ‘gloves are off’

Unions threaten the ‘gloves are off," after accusing the construction industry of reneging on an agreement to strengthen safety legislation in South Australia, reported in news.com.au.

The legislation had been framed in consultation with the Safe Work SA advisory committee, according to SA Union state secretary Janet Giles.

"We agreed unanimously on the Bill, and now they are going behind our backs lobbying against it," Giles told news.com.au.

"If they are going to behave in this way, then the only thing for us to say is that the gloves are now off and we will now be actively pursuing additional things in that Bill to counteract their lobbying," she said.

This comes after the WA union accuses its state of ‘stalling’ to avoid OHS harmonisation.
