SAFEWORK SA says it is developing a website which will provide young workers with access to occupational health and safety and industrial relations information regarding their rights and responsibilities.

The new website is expected to go live in late 2008. It will be a resource providing advice to students and young workers regarding the safety systems that should exist at work. It will also contain information on how they can ensure they receive proper pay, conditions and entitlements.

During the development stage, the workplace safety authority is conducting an online survey and focus group sessions with the students. It will gather information about students’ workplace experiences, as well as content and design preferences.

According to the authority, this research will also help it better understand workplace issues that affect young people.
