THE MONASH University Accident Research Centre and the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine are holding the 9th National Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion in July 2009.

According to the organisers, the National Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion will be held in Melbourne from 26 to 28 July 2009.

The conference serves link researchers, policy makers and practitioners to develop the injury prevention body of knowledge.

The theme for the 9th National Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion is ‘Applying the Science: an integrated approach’. It will drive a renewed and reinvigorated focus on injury as the leading, and most preventable, cause of death in young people in Australia.

The injury prevention conference will not only deal with scientific excellence, but will also aim to translate new knowledge into practice. Practitioners will explore links between forensic medicine, coroners' investigations and the prevention of injury.
