INDUSTREA will be providing $10.71m worth of mining productivity and safety equipment to BHP Billiton www.bhpbilliton.com mines in South Africa.

According to the company, its wholly owned subsidiary Advanced Mining Technologies (AMT) will be supplying its collision avoidance technology to three mines operated by BHP Billiton Energy Coal South Africa (BECSA).

The CAS-CAM/RF collision avoidance technology will be supplied to the Klipfontein, Middleburg Mine Services, and Klipsruit Fleets sites, with installation to start February 2009.

The contract follows a successful pilot installation of the safety system at the Klipfontein mine.

The company claims with this, it has broken into the strong South African mining market, and the CAS-CAM/RF safety systems are currently experiencing strong global demand.

The CAS-CAM/RF collision avoidance system reduces the hazard of collisions on mine sites by providing drivers of heavy mobile equipment with better awareness of other vehicles in close proximity. It combines camera vision for blind spots and automatic identification of other vehicles within range.
