Hong Kong delegation looks at Aussie construction safety

SAFEWORK SA is currently hosting a delegation from Hong Kong on a study tour focusing on construction safety.

According to SafeWork SA, the 10-member delegation is being led by the Executive irector of the territory’s Occupational Health and Safety Council, Tang Wah Shing. It includes officials from Hong Kong and Macau’s Labour, Housing, Water and Drainage departments.

Delegates are specifically examining the issue of safe design in the construction industry.

The group is staying for four days in Adelaide, and will visit a number of local building sites, the premises of Samaras Structural Engineers and the Christies Beach Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The delegates will receive presentations from leading figures in South Australia’s construction industry, representing builders, contractors and unions, and also meet members of the SafeWork SA Advisory Committee.

The group leaves for Sydney on 5 August 2009.
