Front-line health care and community care workers urged to get vaccinated

THE FEDERAL Department of Health and TGA have urged front-line health care workers and community care workers to get free swine flu vaccinations.

According to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), the human trials show that the vaccine is safe and effective for use in people older than 10 years.

The first round of vaccination is free, and vulnerable members of the community will be vaccinated first. This includes front-line health care and community care workers who have direct contact with patients.

The 21 million doses of the vaccine are now available for free, and only one injection is required per person.
