WorkSafe former employee takes WorkSafe to court to expose its toxic workplace culture.

Jillian Ramsden, a former commercial health adviser at WorkSafe was sacked in July after filing a WorkCover stress claim following advice from her doctor, reported in the age.

Ramsden told the age she was subjected to relentless bullying over several months, including withholding of crucial work information, exclusion from workplace events and verbal abuse in front of other employees.

'I had no support and there is a widespread culture of fear if you speak up,'' said Ramsden.

''It is a bitter irony that WorkSafe's campaign slogan says, 'I was new and afraid to ask - it doesn't hurt speaking up','' she said.

Ramsden is seeking compensation in Federal Court after settlement negotiations broke down.

This follows an investigation that the age investigated last month.

The responsibilities of WorkSafe are to help avoid workplace injuries occurring and enforce Victoria's occupational health and safety laws.
