Finalists for 2009 SRCC Safety Awards

THE SAFETY, Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission (SRCC) has announced the finalists for its 2009 SRCC Safety Awards.

According to the SRCC, the awards are currently in their ninth year. They recognise excellence in workplace health and safety, rehabilitation and return to work achieved by employers and individuals within the Comcare scheme.

Vying for the Leadership Award for Injury or Disease Prevention and Management are the Department of Defence - Training Command Army, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship and TNT Australia.

The Australian Institute of Marine Science, the Australian Taxation Office and the National Gallery of Australia are the finalists for the Best Workplace Health and Safety Management System category.

The finalists for the third category, Best Solution to an Identified Workplace Health and Safety Issue, are Australian Air Express, CSIRO Livestock Industries, the Department of Defence, Linfox Armaguard, the National Gallery of Australia and the Royal Australian Mint.

The finalists for the Rehabilitation and Return to Work Award are Australia Post, Commonwealth Bank, CSIRO Plant Industry, the Department of Defence and TNT Australia.
