Coal miner crushed against wall

A COAL miner has been hospitalised after being crushed against a wall at a colliery south-west of Sydney.

The incident occurred at around 4am on 23 September 2008, at the NRE Number One Colliery near Wollongong.

The 34-year-old sustained abdominal, chest and shoulder injuries, and was brought back to the surface by his coworkers.

Workplace safety authorities are investigating.
