Safety on exhibition

VISITORS to the 2008 National Manufacturing Week expo can get practical advice on a range of industry specific safety initiatives.

WorkCover has encouraged workers and employers in the manufacturing industry to visit its stand at the expo.

According to the workplace safety authority, it will have a team of occupational health and safety experts on site. A replica ‘hot cell’ will also be at the stand, which is a training testing station that exposes individuals to the effects of fire and smoke in a confined space.

It will also have information about the national machinery and equipment guarding safety campaign, and advisory offices will offer small businesses rebates for attending safety workshops.

WorkCover NSW will share a stand with WorkSafe Victoria. Visitors can enter a draw to win tickets to the 2008 SafeWork Awards ceremony at Olympic Park in October.

National Manufacturing Week and the expo will be held from 27 May to 30 May 2008 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.
