INDUSTREA has signed a $5.4m contract with BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance to supply its CAS-CAM/RF collision avoidance system to BMA’s mines.
According to Industrea, the contact followed a successful pilot program for the complete CAS-CAM/RF system at the BMA Gregory Crinum Mine and previous camera-only installations at other BMA mines.
The CAS/CAM/RF collision avoidance system comprises a combination of blind spot cameras and radio frequency proximity detection technologies which reduce the risk of earth moving equipment and light vehicles colliding.
The system will be installed over 2010, though it will be delivered and paid for by the end of the 2009 financial year.
Industrea claims the technology has helped mines achieve ongoing improvement in safety performance by reducing the hazard for collisions between mine vehicles both heavy and light.
